I normally shop at a regular supermarket where the brands are all the familiar brands we all know.

I went in one of those 99 cent stores the other day just to see what it was like. They carried several common non-perishable food items, but they were all brands I’d never heard of before. Brands that you never see on the shelves at a regular supermarket.

I am wondering: what’s the deal with these brands?
Are they subsidiaries of the same corporations and food manufacturers who make the well-known brands, but of a lower quality and distinctly marketed for discount stores like this?

Or are they completely separate companies from the companies that make the well-known brands?

Are you wondering where to find the coupons that everyone uses to save lots of money? Or maybe you're having trouble getting your coupons organized. Several tips for both finding coupons and effectively organizing them.

There are many forms and sources of coupons. This article is an overview of what the different types of coupons are and where to find them.

First, there are insert manufacturers’ coupons.Generally these are the coupons that come in the Sunday paper inserts. These are what most people think of when they think about coupons. These are the easiest to redeem in stores and usually the easiest to find.

Sometimes there are also manufacturers’ coupons found on a tearpad. These are coupons that are found hanging on a shelf or sitting on a counter in a store. They are on a pad (much like a notepad) and you can tear them off to use.

There are also manufacturers’ coupons found affixed to products with adhesive.Sometimes these are called peelies. You will find peelies on the products they are intended to be used on or as a promotion for another product. For example, you may buy a bottle of salad dressing and find a coupon for ketchup on that bottle.

Similar to peelies are winetags. These coupons are hanging around the neck of a bottle. As with peelies, sometimes these are hanging on the bottle of the product the coupon is good on, but other times they are intended for use on another product.

Another source for manufacturers’ coupons is the small coupon machine in the supermarket. These machines usually have a blinking red light and for this reason are called blinkies.

Some manufacturers choose to offer their coupons as internet printables. These are coupons that are found online and printed out on a printer. With most internet printables you are allowed to print them out two times. You may not ever copy internet printables. Each internet printable coupon has a unique code on it to prove its validity. Not all stores readily accept internet printables, so it’s a good idea to check with your stores to see if they will let you use them.

As you can see, there are many different forms of coupons available. It can be overwhelming when you start using them to figure out how to organize them. There are many numerous ways, and the most important consideration is use a method that works well for you. Here are a couple of ideas: use a small accordion-style coupon organizer and either alphabetize or sort the coupons by categories; use a binder with either baseball card inserts or photo pages, again sorting either by category or alphabetically. Some couponers choose to keep all of their coupons at home and only take the ones they need for a particular shopping trip.

Clearly there are lots of different options for organizing your coupons, and it’s important to use whatever system works the best for you.
