Are you looking for ways to save money on groceries? If you are, you may want to use coupons to help you. Food and grocery coupons, when used properly, can save you hundreds of dollars or more a year.

As nice as it is to hear that coupons can help you save money on your groceries, you may be curious as to how you can find them. Luckily for you, you do have a number of different options.

One of the easiest ways to find food coupons is by grabbing a copy of your local Sunday newspaper. Most Sunday newspapers have inserts that contain coupons. In fact, some inserts can save you a hundred dollars or more, if you were to use all of the coupons. In addition to your Sunday newspaper, checkout your Saturday newspaper. Some Saturday editions also have these inserts in them and they are often much cheaper.

Another easy way that you can find grocery coupons is by using the internet. When doing so, you will want to get started with a standard internet search. You will want to be on the lookout for websites that are known as online coupon websites. These are websites that have coupons listed for you to print. What is nice about this approach is that you are able to pick and choose which items you want to save money on.

In keeping with using the internet to save money on groceries, you can also visit product manufacturer websites. It is recommended that you start with the products that you use. A number of well-known product manufacturers have printable coupons listed on their websites. In addition to those that you can print, some will also give you a small form to fill out and the coupons will be mailed to your home. This approach is nice, as not all retailers accept online grocery coupons.

Perhaps, the easiest approach for you to take is to closely examine your grocery receipt. Did you know that many stores print coupons with their receipts? They may appear on the back of your receipt or on a separate sheet of paper. Often times, you will find that these coupons are tailored to your purchases. For example, if you purchased a box of cereal, you may receive a moneysaving certificate for your next cereal purchase.

As you can see, there are a number of ways that you can find food coupons. Since you have all of these options, you should start examining them today. Why wait any longer to start saving money?

Shopping with grocery store coupons is not a haphazard sort of activity for those that use coupons on a regular basis. These people know that a great savings is there for the taking, especially if it is done correctly. Organization is the first rule followed by shopping for only what you will use. Asking for better deals is also important. After all, you’ll never get what you want unless you ask. The internet is but a single tool in this money saving endeavor, but an important one nonetheless.

Finding printable coupons

Finding printable coupons is not rocket science. On the internet just type in coupons and a host of options will appear. Also try the paper, in store flyers, hang tags, take consumer surveys (online and off) or buy a woman’s consumer magazine. If you plan on getting into coupons in a big way you may be interested in printable coupons. These printable coupons are no different than regular coupons. They do, however, give you added options to work within the manufacturers’ coupon marketing strategy.

It’s worth the effort

Once you get rolling you should be aware that you are becoming a beacon for internet advertisers. After all, the manufacturers are not offering coupons for their health. They know that if they can get you to buy once you are more likely to buy twice. They also know that junk mail is a game of numbers. Send enough of it and somebody is going to bite. Unfortunately, this means your in-box likely won’t stand a chance unless you are VERY careful right from the VERY start. On the up side you will be paying with a little time to save a lot of money.

Don’t limit yourself

As mentioned, coupons are a game of numbers. The numbers vary across the country. What works for the manufacturer in one part of the country might not work in another part of the country. Because of this coupon offers vary across the country. With printable coupons you can enter your zip code and receive printable coupons for your region. It will also let the manufacturer know what you are interested in. This means that they can send more specific printable coupons latter on.

Coupon strategy

Being organized is the key to grocery store coupons whether they are printable coupons or not. Have an organizational folder so you can pounce as marketers programs change. They may be worth single coupon today but they may be double coupon tomorrow. It’s all a game. They know it and so should you. The way you play is the way to make them pay.

The Sunday Newspaper: Seems too easy, doesn’t it? Look no further than your loyal Sunday paper. These editions are so thick because they are ripe with savings goodies, not to mention advertisements out the Wazoo. Taking thirty minutes a week to look through the paper and clip the coupons for products you know you’ll want will be a major money-saver.

Magazine Ads: Remember all those magazines you subscribed to and didn’t know why, yet you still have a 3-year subscription to “Man and Machines” that you’ll never read? Well, why should they go to waste? Forget the articles; check out the plethora of ads held within many weekly or monthly magazines to find great savings where you never even thought to look before.

Restaurant Discounts: There are 101 websites and networks which allow you to save every time you go out to eat. Check the internet for websites like Dining Fever, Diner’s Club, and the Rewards Network, all of which offer great discounts. Some require you to pay a small fee for a $35-off coupon redeemable at many restaurants, and others you can link directly to your credit or debit card, giving you a cash-back rebate on top of whatever coupons you use!

Grocery Stores: Why would a store want you to escape with coupons for use next time? To keep you coming back, naturally! Almost every major supermarket has several places to get coupons and rebates right in the very store. On top of Store Loyalty cards, many grocery stores offer a free e-newsletter to frequent customers which, while at times annoying, can be an easy way to print coupons from home and save money later. Also, front-of-store flyers and the red “blinkers” in the aisles dispense coupons (and they even blink to let you know they’re there to help)! Most importantly, don’t be afraid to simply ask someone. Oh, and don’t forget to check the backs and bottoms of receipts for other savings opportunities.

Internet: We live in a lucky age for savings, with the advent of online couponing. There are literally thousands of sites out there offering coupons you can bring to the store the next time you shop. Just search for terms like “Free Grocery Coupons” or “Printable Grocery Coupons”. One of my favorites is Select Coupon Program, a membership based site that allows you to order grocery coupons and have them delivered directly to your home.

Entertainment Book: Every major county in the U.S. offers these little gems, and they really do come in handy. If you haven’t heard, the Entertainment Book is a huge index full of hundreds of dollars worth of savings, and they’re good for the entire calendar year! Everything from dining to mini-golf to movies and grocery stores can be found in this lovely little item.

Flyers in the Mail: Yes, they’re annoying, and yes, you just want to tear them up the second you see them sitting in your mailbox, but resist that urge! If you have an address, you will get junk mail. And spam. Lots of it. But the good news is that while 90% of these mail-in flyers are garbage, some of them have some pretty legitimate bargains! It’s just a matter of sorting through a few pieces of mail a week (okay, a lot of mail) and seeing which offers apply to you. Don’t be afraid to go to a store or buy a product just because you got a coupon for it. Being flexible in where and what you buy is the key to saving!

On Product Labels (Specials): Cereal boxes may just be the best place for this kind of deal, but you’ll find them all over the place if you look hard enough. Scour the backs of boxes next time you shop instead of just buying the first thing you see. You’ll find a lot of products come with coupons or rebates for free things that may come in handy, or at the very least a coupon for that same product! Hang onto these when you’re done with the product and you’ll be much happier the next time you go shopping.

E-Bay: What? For real? YES! Many people are (legitimately) selling unused and unexpired coupons on the famous auction site for ridiculously low amounts of money. Check the listings and create an E-Bay account to find tons of opportunities to save. Make sure the person you are buying from has a good, clean track record, and look around to see what others are paying/and have paid for similar deals!

Coupon Clubs: Ever thought of trading your coupons with your neighbors? Well, it happens all the time, so start a coupon sharing program or join one that already exists in your area.

With a little ingenuity and a bit of time, you can start finding amazing ways to save today. If you are like most people who don’t have time to follow these steps, try visiting www.selectcouponprogram.com, here you can choose the coupons you like and have them delivered right to your door. These are just a few helpful hints from some people who have been around the rebate block a few times and know where to find the best deals. All it takes is some research and a well-developed plan (or a thin wallet/pocketbook – you know what they say: Necessity is the Mother of Couponing)!

Have you ever had a friend or colleague say, “Wow, I just bought an MP3 and I paid the full retail price!”? Probably not since people don’t usually brag about paying full price for something. There is nothing to get excited about when paying full price for an item from a traditional store that could have been bought online for less using a coupon. So why doesn’t everyone shop online with coupons? Not that I have the full answer to that question, but many shoppers buy in traditional stores because they want it, whatever it may be, now and don’t want to wait for the item to be shipped.

A smart shopper really can save a good amount of money on an item by using an online coupon. This may be a good time to do a quick summary about online coupons. Many online stores offer discounts to attract consumers. These discounts are called coupons, which are similar to the grocery coupons people clip out of the Sunday morning newspaper. Instead of using a coupon to get $0.50 off a can of baked beans, you use an online coupon to get $15 off an MP3 player, as an example. Online coupons offer a dollar off discount, a percentage off discount, or even offer free shipping on the order. Coupons are also sometimes referred to as discount codes, promotional codes, or offer codes.

There are hundreds and maybe thousands of websites out there that publish coupon codes. I have looked at quite a few of them myself. Finding a coupon code for a specific online store is clearly not a problem. You can start by Googling the store name followed by the word “coupons” and you will have more than enough results. However, the smart shopper will soon realize that many of these coupon sites have expired coupons and discount codes listed, but don’t be discouraged by that. With some patience, a requirement of the smart online shopper, you will be able to locate a coupon site that consistently publishes current online coupon codes and any restrictions associated with the coupons.

To be a real smart online shopper, try combining online coupons with automatic free shipping based on shopping cart total. Some online stores offer free shipping coupons and other stores offer free shipping based on a minimum dollar amount spent. For example, there are opportunities where an online shopper can redeem a dollar off coupon and also get free shipping based on shopping cart total. For example, I just purchased a 20 inch LCD monitor from Buy.com last month using a $15 off coupon and free shipping. Buy.com, like many online stores, offers free shipping on many items that are priced above a certain dollar amount. Some online stores allow you to use multiple coupons on a single order, also called coupon stacking, but not many. Dell, for example, allows the shopper to stack certain types of online coupons in a single order. For the most part, you can only apply or redeem one coupon per order.

As I stated earlier, there is no shortage of online coupon publication sites out there, but not all are created equal. I have spent literally hours going through many of what Google considers to be the best ranked coupon sites. I will recommend two coupon sites so you don’t have to spend your valuable time searching.
