Is it ok to buy a coupon book for a Christmas gift?

I was wanting to buy my in-laws one of those Entertainment coupon books for Christmas, because they enjoy dining out and shopping. However, my husband thinks it might be tacky to buy someone coupons as a gift. What do you think? I’m just trying to think of something useful.
