If I were a first time parent and looking to find a babysitter; the first people I would inquire of would be my family and close friends with children. I would ask for recommendations or referrals. The second source I would inquire of would be local daycare centers. Their personnel have to go through a screening process to work there; so I would trust their judgement. The third source I would consult would be online services. I would scrutinize them very carefully, asking alot of questions and asking for at least three references. I would also consult the local high school and colleges and more specifically, the early education department. People who study in this area, are probably always looking to acquire more practical experience. Other places that may be able to assist you in your search, are local church officials, community organizations, and government agencies. I don’t usually recommend posting ads on the bulletin board because of the possible consequences of putting your name, address, and phone number in public. It could become a privacy issue. The same goes for putting an ad on Craiglist. There is alot of risk involved, and the safety of your children should always come first.

Some vital shopping tips for a safe experience when buying sports equipment online. Learn more before you buy that special offer, what warranty does it offer? Is it a reputable sports equipment store? is it really a bargain?

Buying sports equipment online in the UK can be a bit daunting, with shops offering discounts here and special offers there. It is so important however, that you manage to get a good deal on quality equipment. Here are some vital shopping tips for a safe experience when buying sports equipment online:

Exercise equipment stores Some stores will offer a good range of equipment at all prices, and others will only offer products within a particular price band. Whichever you buy from you must be sure that it is a reputable store with good knowledge of the sports industry. We suggest you buy from specialist fitness suppliers rather than department stores, as their advice into what to buy and their after sales care will be of much benefit to you.

Quality You may be tempted to buy discount or second hand equipment, please be aware that these will not end up being such a bargain as they are often a lot poorer in durability and workmanship. Although the price may seem inviting, you will end up having to work twice as hard to get the results that quality equipment will give you!

Warranties Be aware of equipment with a short, or parts only warranty. You need to make sure that you get value for money and that your equipment is going to last. Never buy equipment with a RETURN-TO-BASE warranty!

Compare prices This may seem like an obvious one, but it is so important to compare prices when shopping for sports equipment. The difference in some prices can be huge, what looks like a special offer in one store may actually be more than the standard price in another. Don’t be sucked into buying the first thing you see, do your research and see what other stores have on offer.

Visit Millimart.com for more information on buying sports equipment online [http://www.millimart.com].

During the recession, people aren't shopping as much for fear they may loose their jobs and don't want to spend their last dollar or due to sky rocketing prices. Never fear, because there are places like eBay, thrift stores and fleamarkets, as well as many other places, where consumers and fashionistas can buy merchandise for close to nothing. These are great places where you can really stretch a dollar too! Check out the best places to shop during the recession.

As you’ve heard in the news, we are in a recession right now. Thankfully, we are a strong country and we will bounce back soon, but what do fashionistas and consumers alike do in the meantime? Well, I have some shopping tips that will get you right out of these recession blues and back into a fantastic wardrobe in no time. Learn recession proof secrets from smart shoppers and out of the box thinkers!

Anybody heard of a little company called eBay? eBay holds thousands and thousands of auctions every day on clothes, jewelry, gift cards, camping gear, antiques, planters and literally everything under the sun. A lot of times you can find new items when searching eBay too. The best deals are on gently used items, because the sellers price them low to sell. You can find garage sale prices right at your fingertips, with out having to drive your car around town wasting gas on a hot Saturday afternoon. eBay is the best way to find a bargain with minimal work. The sellers do all the work for you! It’s just a click of your fingertip and then your item shows right up at your door.

Another way to find bargains, that requires a little bit more time, but great rewards are resale shops and recycled clothing stores. There are now chain stores that sell recycled clothing and resale shops run by charities that bring in the finest items. You better believe that you are getting great prices on these goods too! Some recycled clothing stores price their merchandise at a quarter of the original retail value. Now that is a bargain, especially if you want high end clothes at thrift store prices. Charity run resale shops are just as great, because they bring in quality items and sometimes very valuable antiques. Of course, these items are priced reasonable considering their value and you are doing a good thing for your community by purchasing merchandise from a charity. It is your way of giving back under tough economic times! Just be prepared to dig for buried treasure when you go to these places, because it can take hours to find that special, bargain priced item.

When I am low on funds and want a bargain, I go to my local thrift store or I go to garage sales. Here’s another activity that requires a bit of time, but I guarantee you will find the lowest prices anywhere! Thrift shops sometimes bring a lot of old, weird stuff in, however I always manage to find a gem at a rock bottom price when I go. It’s just a matter of taking your time, preparing to get dirty, coming in with a $5 budget, and walking out of the thrift shop with a beautiful $3 dollar top and $1.50 clutch. Garage sales require the same amount of work with a little bit of sweat. Find a nearby neighborhood on a Saturday morning and follow the garage sale signs. Believe me, you will find some! Sometimes you find people who are moving and just need to get rid of their stuff. So you end up leaving with picture frames, books, printer ink and multiple shirts all for $5! In my experience, you can’t find a better bargain than at a garage sale. I have the $1 beautiful brown peasant top to prove it.

The crme de la crme of bargain shopping is at the flea market. There are many nice flea markets popping up now a days and some oldies, but goodies too! People at flea markets want to sell and, like garage sales, sellers are willing to bargain! My parents love to go to the flea market every Sunday morning and have purchased the most beautiful inexpensive furniture I have ever seen because of it. The costume and antique jewelry at flea markets can be fantastic too, just ask my Mom! My stepfather is now a vendor at the flea market because he loves people and even loves to bargain with them more. Everyone wins and has a good time at the flea market. It is a fun and frugal activity to do if you are consumer minded or even if you just like to window shop for anything and everything.

Who says, we can’t find ways to beat the recession? With venues like eBay, resale shops, recycled clothing stores, thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets, fashionistas and consumers everywhere are slowly boosting our economy by shopping for bargains. We are finding ways around the sky rocketing prices and shopping smarter. The point is we are shopping! We are making deals and finding steals and because of it we look fabulous. So go outside of the box and click eBay, get to know your local thrift shop and their sale days, or venture to the flea market on a Sunday morning. I promise there is something there for everyone at a great price.

A shopping blog can be a great resource if you know how to make its best use. There are numerous advantages of using a shopping blog. Here are some of the pitfalls that you may be exposed to in case you do not use one!

* Auctions: Some of the best things are auctioned at throwaway prices online. Online shopping can help you get them at rock bottom prices. But keeping track of all the sellers and all the sites is a difficult task. You can get this information through a shopping blog for free. Once you enter your preferences or your intention to buy a certain product, it can help you find a website where you may win it in an auction at an unbelievable price.

* Discount Coupons: If there is one thing shopping blogs are famous for, it is discount coupons. Retailers understand the benefits of giving away coupons online. They get sales and none of their resources are used up. They are more than happy to pass on this benefit to the customers. Once again keeping track of the numerous coupons being offered online is a tough job. It is fully equipped to perform it for you without any charge whatsoever.

* Expert Advice: Buying some products tends to be more difficult than initially thought. For instance, for buying high tech items or products you have never brought before, you are sure to be looking for shopping advice. Many shopping blogs will provide this expert advice to you free of cost via their newsletter of e-mail alerts services. Most will offer this on a regular basis
when you select products that are of interest to you. But you can find articles related to anything that you may have to buy in the archives as well.

* Comparison Shopping: The choices that one is likely to face during shopping can become overwhelming. There may be multiple attributes of interest and you may have to compare different products to come up with one that meets your needs. This will not only mean collecting a lot of information but also analyzing it. It may have this as a computer program, so all you need to do is select the products and the rest is automated. This helps a great deal in simplifying the entire process.

* Shopping Tips And Scam Alerts: A shopping blog can also save your money from going down the drain. Every year there are online scams where innocent people lose money while shopping. The blog will keep a track of all this and inform its users, thereby saving them from being duped.

A shopping blog costs nothing and is easy to subscribe to. But at the same time, these blogs are of tremendous help as they not only fetch you the best deal, they make it even cheaper. These blogs do not decide on your behalf. They simply provide you with the best information that you may need to make your decision.

Royaltyuniverse.com is a blog which provides resources for comparison shopping. It has all the tools to aid you in online shopping! For more information about shopping blog visit the given link.

In the UK almost every high street store has a website associated with it. The benefits of sometimes not driving to the high street store or shopping mall are sometimes very good in comparison to the time consuming and expense of the traditional method. However, to make shopping on the internet worthwhile, a good internet shopping website must cater for the needs of most and be diverse enough to cover all types of shopping.

The growth of eBay has certainly introduced diversity and is reliant on bidding for the product on offer. Individuals have successfully created a business out of this kind of medium, however for those of us who simply want to browse the shops and take their time in choosing that item of interest, a good internet shopping mall would be one which achieves the following:

Provides a directory of shops under the relevant category
Provides a product based comparison service
Provides internet shopping tips and ideas
Provides shopping ideas for gifts
Provides an update of the latest shopping vouchers available

Browsing a site like this should provide an all encompassing experience without the need to travel to that out of town shopping mall. Ideas and suggestions should provide the user with a sense of fulfillment and certainly any internet shopping advice given would be very welcome to those just familiarising themselves with the internet.

Many internet shopping malls simply list only the shops relevant to a category. For example the category of ‘woman’s clothing’ would list shops such as Dorothy Perkins or Miss Selfridge. Although this can be of use to those who have difficulty in remembering all the names of the high street stores, a listing of products would also provide the user with a deeper level of satisfaction.

For instance, imagine searching for magazines and the internet shopping mall providing you with all the individual magazines for a particular topic. An internet shopping mall that can bring this level of service is what this article suggests would be a good shopping website. If then the user wishes to buy a shirt and individual items are listed deep linking to the relevant stores, a website such as this could prove invaluable for the savvy shopper.

As the economy takes a turn for the worse, trips to the supermarket seem to be getting more and more expensive. As the prices of food climb due to the rising price of fuel, our grocery budget slowly decreases. For those of us who want to stay within our spending limit, we have to make certain sacrifices. Usually the foods which we cut back on are the ones which we should be consuming more of. Let’s face it; white bread is much cheaper than whole grain bread. However, is white bread the best choice for our health? In this article I will provide several budget-friendly shopping tips for the average consumer.

Limit your trips to the market to just once a week. This will help you minimize your grocery and gas expenses.

Make a list of only the essential and stick to it. When we shop we tend to purchase a lot more than what we need. So be smart and stick only to what you need.

Buy fruits and veggies that are in season. Fresh produce that is in season tends to be a lot cheaper. Furthermore, always switching to what is in season will keep you from getting bored with your selection.

Try shopping at a local farmers market. Support your community and save money!

Buy what you can in bulk. Products which come in bulk are often cheaper because you are not paying for packaging.

Cut back on snacks. This brings me back to point number two. Buy only what you need. Chips and other snacks are not essentials, they are treats. Instead of spending your money on these calorie laden foods, treat yourself to whole grain bread rather than white bread.

Purchasing only the essentials is also beneficial for those individuals who are trying to lose weight. Aside from physical activity, whey protein shakes, and various herbal remedies, a diet that contains no junk is important to weight loss success.

Lauren S. Johnson writes health articles about fitness and nutrition. Some of her favorite passions include studying the medicinal benefits of herbal remedies, diet pills.

In an industry where double-digit growth has previously been the norm, it would seem hard to imagine finding much dissatisfaction amongst its consumers. Online shopping, one would gather, offers benefits that would attract anyone who has a computer with access to an internet connection. Although not everyone has that access (in the United States over 50% of the US population is now connected to the Internet), those that do are not 100% convinced that online shopping is the way to go.

In finding out about the why, what and how of online shopping, you may be surprised by why people shop online, what they dislike about shopping online, and how online shopping might change to continue growing in the future as it has in the past.

Online buyers are shifting a greater share of their purchases from the traditional brick and mortar stores to the web in search of more convenience, cost savings, and broader product selection. These three “whys” of online shopping were found to be consistent throughout the research for this article. According to an October 2008 report by Forrester Research, in a survey of 1000 adult online buyers, 48% expect to find the best values online (that’s up from 41% in 2007). In a report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project entitled “Online Shopping:Convenient but Risky”, the whys were similar. Of the people surveyed for the report, 78% stated convenience while another 68% cited saving time as the reasons for shopping online.

Further evidence of the reasons why people shop online was reported in June 2008 by ERetail in their “Top 100 Online Retail Index”. The major factors for shopping online were financial(26%), gas prices(16%) and the economic outlook(14%). Additionally, 34% of those surveyed said they planned on spending more money shopping online. If financial and the economic outlook are about savings, then gas prices (not driving to the store?) is about savings and convenience. And of those planning to spend 34% more, they probably have found out about the broad product selection.

If the “whys” of people shopping online seemed consistent, then so will the “whats” of things that people dislike. It’s not surprising that in an industry with such dramatic growth (more on that later), technology glitches and process management have combined to create some dissatisfaction. That those same areas of dissatisfaction are consistent tells us that those areas can be improved if not totally eliminated.

In a Nielsen Consumer Report/Global Survey conducted in February 2008, the top security concerns regarding online shopping were reported. The first concern was not receiving the item(s) purchased or receiving different item(s) than what was purchased. The second security concern was that personal information would be sold to a third party. Lastly, the third concern was financial information being stolen. Referring back to the Pew Project, it was reported that 75% of those surveyed were concerned about both financial and personal information being secure. The other area of concern was regarding the amount or the way which online shopping information was presented, with 58% stating they found that information to be overwhelming. The Privacy Rights Clearing House, a report titled “Online Shopping Tips: Ecommerce and You” cited the number one concern of online shoppers as a combination of Pew research piece. Those online shoppers in the Privacy Rights piece declared that not only should the payment and product process be secure, but that both the financial and purchase information be simplified, not in any way overwhelming.

If Ecommerce growth will be fueled to some degree by increased spending of current online buyers, then attracting new online shoppers seems to be a key factor in the equation of continued growth. However, although online shoppers agree to the benefits (convenience, savings, selection), most also agree on the detractions (financial and personal information security, the purchase process). Let’s take a look at some of the numbers to see how change could affect growth.

If we look back at the Forrester Research report of October 2008, we find some of those interesting numbers. Forty-seven percent of online shoppers plan to spend the same amount in the next twelve months. Further stated, 27% plan to spend more and 26% plan to spend less money. By my math, that adds up to basically flat growth. The US Department of Commerce projects the 2008 growth for online shopping to be about 7% (the DOC tracked the industry’s growth rate at 20% plus since 1999). Additionally, eMarketer reports the 2008 holiday season (November & December) grew at about 10%. Combining the DOC and eMarketer findings, we do see some growth but not at near the double-digit rates of years past.

So what’s an industry to do? Referring again to Pew finds an interesting analysis. Pew measured the combined effect of making non-online shoppers comfortable with some of the hesitancy of shopping online. The data gathered reflected financial/personal information, the purchase process, along with the previous “whys” regarding savings, convenience and selection. Improving the confidence of non-online shoppers in these areas could have an overall impact of as much as 12% growth. If you consider that some of the drop-off in growth may be due in part to economic concerns around the world, then sustained ecommerce growth seems very much a potential outcome.

In closing, because online shopping is such a dynamic industry, the technical and processing aspects will only continue to improve. As those two areas seem to be at the root of any dissatisfaction with online shopping, those improvements are probably in place and taking affect. Making online shopping a better experience benefits all of us – those who provide it and those who use it.

The technique of all well-informed shoppers is comparison-shopping. In fact, it’s the only way to be sure of paying the lowest cost. But not all comparison-shopping is created equal. In this week’s newsletter we’ll cover the correct way to comparison shop. We’ll cover the habits of the intelligent comparison shopper.

One of the biggest assets of comparison-shopping is planning. Planning your time, your moves and your goals. The more time and information you before you go have before you go shopping – the better your decision and the results you’ll have.

When you fail to comparison shop you’ll pay too much, that’s the price (pardon the pun) of ignoring the advice in this article.

Here’s 7 Guidelines for Effective Comparison shopping that save you money and time.

1. Don’t comparison-shop when you’re in a hurry.

Hurry up shopping is always expensive. People who shop while rushing find it harder to comparison shop. As a result, they overpay for products and services. When you’re in a hurry or in a rush it’s difficult to negotiate effectively and it’s almost impossible to save money on a consistently.

2. Research before you shop.

Well-informed shoppers make it a point to research before they buy especially big-ticket products or services. With the internet, research comes much easier for the intelligent shopper of today. So use this modern day high tech tool to your advantage. Use the many search engine comparison site available.

3. Don’t depend on commission salespeople as your main source of information.

One of the biggest mistakes most consumers make is to depend on the advice and consultation of commissioned salespeople. Doing this will limit you to a one-sided view of options available, prices and choices. That’s why it’s important to follow step 1 and step 2.

4. Make sure you’re comparing Apples with Apples.

To get the most accurate view for comparison-shopping, make sure you’re comparing the same qualities, features and benefits of products and services against each other.

5. Evaluate your needs vs. your wants.

Before you take your first shopping trip, sit down and list your needs – or what’s the minimum features you must have in the product or service. On the other list write down any wants you may have after you satisfy your needs.

6. Evaluate your priorities in order of importance.

As a continuation of step 5, place your list of needs in order of priority with one being your most important priority above anything else. In other words if you can’t achieve your priorities that’s the deal breaker. Next, list your priorities for the rest of your needs and wants.

7. Establish your limitations.

This is an important step. Many people make the mistake of not establishing limitations on what they plan to spend. As a result, they overspend or buy products or services they’re not satisfied with.

If you take the time to follow these comparison shopping tips you’ll find yourself paying the lowest prices for products and services. You’ll also enjoy your purchases more because you took the time to think through your purchases. Congratulations.

Having trouble looking for that unique and different handbag? Or, maybe you’re looking for a purse that isn’t in the local stores and boutiques yet? Then you should try searching online! Gone are the days when women had to go to the mall to choose from limited supplies. It is the age of the internet, and anything and everything can be found online. It’s easy and accessible, and with one click of a button, hundreds or even thousands of options become available to you.

Now you can go shop for the current “must-have” bag, or something quite different and unique, like customized handbags such as photo purses. If you decide to go online to shop, you must understand that there are a few risks involved. Only deal with reputable stores or sources with credentials, preferably those stores that have secure payment processors like Verisign or Authorize.net. A liberal return policy & a phone number to reach customer service would be another thing to look for. Giving them a call to ask around for details first would be a very good idea.

If you’re in the market for a designer bag, learn to spot fakes and cheap knock-offs. A few tips on how to spot fakes online would be if the price is too good to be true, or the seller is on an auction site and they have a ton to sell. If you do order it, know that designer handbags will often have some extra stitching or small marks that will distinguish it from fakes. Look for the custom label or logo of a designer purse or handbag, and check if they are misplaced or misspelled. Another thing to keep in mind whenever you are shopping would be to compare prices. It never hurts to do a search for the stores name to see if there are any previous customers complaining about the vendor.

Yes there is a slight risk involved in online shopping, but the benefits would far outweigh them. Once you learn to look for bargains and spot fakes, you’re on your way to many great deals and purchases. In today’s world of mass production of purses and fashion accessories, going online to shop is one way to distinguish yourself from looking like everyone else. So go online today and shop with confidence.
